The Arboretum is offering on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings -- Chihuly
Nights, a magical, illuminated opportunity to view the sculptures with
special effects lighting and various dining opportunities. We enjoyed the Chihuly exhibition in the evening glow of moonlight and tree lights with the artist’s magnificently lit sculptures. It is an amazing sight at night!
Before the sun set, we chose the Chihuly Night Three Course Menu at Restaurant DeGolyer. We dined in the historic DeGolyer estate, while sampling several gourmet dishes from the area of Italy, known as the birthplace of blown glass.
The food was good, but not exceptional by no means. We have had far better meals at high end restaurants for their per person price. The service was sub-par. Seemed if most of the staff had never really working in a sever atmosphere. Save yourself some time (very long dining experience) and money and chose one of the other dining options. As I understand it the Arboretum has contracted out Gil’s Elegant Catering to run this, but hope they improve this dining venue. In all fairness we have never be much impressed with the food or dining options here. We usually have a picnic! I believe it appeals to the more mature (older) audience. As these seem to be the ones with all the "donations"
Past the food, WOW it was some much fun to see at night.
