Caring for Chickens in the Extreme Summer Heat
>> Saturday, July 12, 2014
So, I was surprised to learn how many people here locally lost chickens last summer after attending these chicken groups/meetings locally in the Fall. I think many worry more about Caring for Chicken in the Winter, and don't think as much about the summer. We have been very successfully keeping our hens happy and healthy through the extreme summer temperatures in North Texas. Learn some best practices to keep your chickens happy & healthy through the high temperatures through the summer in Texas, or any place that reaches in the 90's and see 100°F plus days. Keep in mind many breads were bread in cooler climates and regions. For example, many birds are named from the area in which they were originally developed...New Hampshire Red, Rhode Island, Plymouth Rock, Delaware, Orpington from UK, Australorp, from Australia, and so many more! Nope, don't see any bread for the Texas heat!
